It won't be just one smartphone, or two, or even three like last year, that Huawei will present on April 6th, but rather four variants of the flagship phone that we will see next month. 4 variants of the Huawei P9 that will come to compete in all ranges of the current market, with the possibility that there will be a premium version additional and different regional variants with changes in bands and storage.
Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Plus
It seems Huawei will also follow a similar strategy to Apple, launching two versions of its flagship phone, a standard and a Plus. In this case, the Huawei P9 opt for a screen of 5,2 inches with resolution Full HD, Whereas the Huawei P9 Plus increases the size to 5,5 inches and incorporates the technology Press Touch to detect different pressure levels. In terms of power, the P9 Plus would have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, while the base P9 starts with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of memory. A version of the P9 with 4 GB/64 GB is also being considered. Both models integrate rear fingerprint reader, USB Type-C and a careful design metallic unibody design with very narrow bezels. At the heart of the range is expected to be the company's own chip, with reports varying between Kirin 950 or with a Kirin 955 Improved. Some leaks place the Kirin 955 in the higher-end models, leaving the 950 for the standard variant. In any case, the leap in performance and efficiency compared to the previous generation is guaranteed, with a ISP i5 dedicated to the dual camera.
Huawei P9 Lite and Huawei P9 Max
We already saw the other two variants of the flagship model last year. Huawei P9 Litewhich will be a somewhat more basic smartphone in terms of technical specifications, and with a screen that is around the 5,2 inch Full HD according to the most reliable sources; and the Huawei Max P9which will be a larger mobile phone, with a large screen that would reach the 6,0–6,8 inchesIt's almost a tablet, and also the most expensive of all these phones. The Max is expected to have resolutions QHD in some configurations.
Perhaps the most surprising thing of all is that the Huawei P9 Lite will be moving away from the mid-range category. Last year it launched with a price of €250, which eventually dropped to €200 to compete with the Motorola Moto G 2015, but this year the phone is expected to cost around €300, making it more expensive, at least at launch. We'll see if the price drops over time or if it's ultimately announced at a lower price. As for performance, we expect... 2/3 GB of RAM, 16 GB storage and chambers 12 / 5 MP, keeping the fingerprint reader.
Meanwhile, rumors are circulating about a fourth P9 “advanced” or premium (in addition to Max) with better components: more memory (4–6 GB of RAM), options of 32 / 64 GB and the most powerful processor available. This variant would be positioned above the standard P9 in terms of materials, memory, and camera.
Design, connectivity and screens
The leaked images and the official teasers agree on one aluminum chassis very refined, with polished edges and a rear top strip for the dual camera, the double LED flash and laser autofocus. The fingerprint sensor is located on the back for convenient and quick unlocking. At the base, the connector USB Type-C It leads modern connectivity that also includes NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and positioning A-GPS/GLONASS/BDSThere will be variants with Dual SIM and different 3G/4G bands depending on the country.
In terms of screens, the P9 (and presumably the Lite) remain in 5,2 inch Full HD with high-quality panels, while the P9 Plus rises to 5,5 inches with Press Touch. For the P9 Max, diagonals of between 6 and 6,8 inches and, depending on the configuration, a jump to QHDThe side frames are very compact, and the thickness is around 7 mm in the finest models.
Dual camera with Leica: the great leap
The big news about these smartphones will be that they will have Leica technology in its camera. The legendary photography brand joins forces with Huawei to revolutionize mobile cameras. It's very likely that the Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, and Huawei P9 Max will all feature a dual camera with Leica technology, while the Huawei P9 Lite's camera is more standard.
The most reliable leaks mention two sensors of 12 SM with Leica optics Summarit f/2.2 and equivalent focal length 27 mmThe system would combine a sensor monochrome (capable of capturing more light) and another RGBimproving detail and dynamic range. Optical stabilization is not expected, but laser focusdepth and contrast focus, plus a mode Pro with manual control of ISO, shutter speed, and focus. Additional modes are added. native black and white and effect of blur taking advantage of the dual lens.
Key specifications and autonomy
In memory, the base P9 would move in 3 GB of RAM to 32 GB storage, while the P9 Plus would increase to 4 GB y 64 GBThe P9 Lite would be aimed at 2 / 3 GB and 16 GB, and the hypothetical advanced P9 could reach up to 4–6GBThe P9's battery is located around 3000 mAh, going up in the P9 Plus to greater capacities (around 3400 mAh), with fast charging via USB-C. In terms of software, the family comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the cape EMUI 4.1 Huawei.
The four smartphones will be officially unveiled on April 6th, at an event we'll be covering and providing you with all the information on the new phones Huawei will be presenting. With all of the above, the P9 range is shaping up to be a very complete family: from a Small competitive in price, going through a P9 balanced, a P9 Plus larger and better equipped, and a Max For those who want the largest possible screen, without forgetting the regional variants that adjust bands and memory for each market.
