Galaxy S2 confirmed to have official Jelly Bean update

  • Samsung Galaxy S2 will officially receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, confirming previous rumors.
  • The update is currently in testing, indicating an imminent arrival.
  • The update is expected to arrive in late September or early October.
  • Samsung is improving its update support, recognizing the importance of the Galaxy S2 in its sales.

It is true that some MODs had been launched that offered the possibility of installing Android 4.1 on Samsung Galaxy S2 phones. But, this was always possible without it being an official version, so some users do not want or do not know how to install this ROM on their terminal. Well, this is over.

As SamMobile indicated at the beginning of the month, Galaxy S2 will have Jelly Bean update. And it will officially, since it has been possible to confirm this point from different sources, either close to the Korean company or directly from it. As is usually the norm when it comes to Samsung products, SamMobile does not fail when it comes to shooting and is almost always right when it comes to indicating both dates and models that will be updated.

It is already in the testing phase

In addition, from what it seems the arrival of Android 4.1 is not something that is especially distant, since it seems that in Samsung are in the testing phase, so you must already have quite advanced ROMs. Obviously, and due to the news and the media coverage, it is almost certain that it will arrive before models like Galaxy S3 (supposedly it will receive Jelly Bean on August 29) or Galaxy Note 2. But it is not unreasonable to think that the update could reach late September or early October. There isn't much left, really, so it's just a matter of having a little patience.

This is yet another demonstration that the Korean company is increasingly striving to offer updates as soon as possible, something that was previously one of its biggest failures when it comes to support. And this is not an unimportant question, since it must be remembered that Samsung is the company that sells the most phones, Galaxy S2 being one of the best-selling ones next year… and it's not a matter of not offering the best to those who own one, right?
