One of the benefits that Android brought as a code operating system is the possibility of being modified to fulfill various tasks or give it any type of functionality. In this way, we can see how the different companies that compete in the market have their own Android customization layer, integrating features that we do not find in other brands. We have an example of this in Xiaomi and its MIUI system, which has several very interesting options and today we want to talk about one that is also very useful.. This is the so-called Application Vault of Xiaomi mobile phones and if you still don't know what it is or where it is located, we will tell you here.
This option is excellent for those who like to speed up access to their favorite applications or certain information.
What is Xiaomi App Vault?
Contrary to what it may seem due to its name, the Xiaomi Application Vault is not a section aimed at protecting or hiding applications from the view of third parties.. In reality, it is a section offered by MIUI where we can have quick access to various applications, functions, information and recommendations. The idea is that instead of scrolling through our desktops looking for an app or opening the browser for match results, we can get everything in one place.
In this way, the App Vault is nothing more than a section where different options are concentrated for a much faster user experience.. Everything displayed is customizable, so you can adjust the entire screen according to your needs, with the applications and information sections you consider. In general, it is a really interesting alternative and worth trying if you are one of those who have a routine of apps and functions for which you use your mobile.
How to use the App Vault?
Below we are going to discuss everything you need to know for the activation, management and use of the Xiaomi Application Vault. As we mentioned before, this section will allow you to build a quick access experience to your recurring functions and applications, here is how to achieve it.
Activate Xiaomi App Vault
If you have a Xiaomi mobile and you don't know where the App Vault is, it may be due to the fact that it is not activated on your device.
In that sense, to enable this function, follow these steps:
- Press and hold an empty space on the desktop until the launcher options are displayed.
- Enter in «Settings«.
- Touch the «More«.
- Enable the control of «Application Vault«.
You will now have access to this section by moving the desktop to the left.
Customize the App Vault
Now we have the App Vault activated and it is time to make this space functional for our needs. This means that we are going to add our favorite apps and the informative sections that we need, in addition to eliminating what we don't want to see.
To start, let's cover Shortcuts, app suggestions, and the sections that are displayed by default in the vault. In that sense, tap the gear icon at the top right and tap the first option that appears on the screen.
In this section you will have the possibility to enable or disable application suggestions. Likewise, you can get rid of functions you don't need such as Editor's Pick, notes, weather information, step counting, sports news or the event calendar.
Shortcuts
Perhaps the most interesting point of the Xiaomi Application Vault is the shortcuts, allowing us to quickly enter our apps or everyday functions.. To do this, go to the vault and long-press any of the apps or functions that appear available. Immediately, you will see that the option «Edit«, touch it and you will access the shortcut selection section.
On this screen you will find the possibility of adding shortcuts to social networks, tools like Google Drive or a shortcut to go to writing an email in Gmail. To add them, just tap the small box in the upper right corner and that's it. Likewise, you can delete them by touching the same box with the "-" sign in the upper right corner.
The advantages of using the App Vault
The Application Vault is a section that, if built correctly and adjusted to our needs, can save us a lot of time. That is, instead of carrying out a process given 4 or 5 touches to the screen, we will only have to give one. For example, if you want to compose an email from the Gmail app, you could go to the vault and tap the compose email function, which is a couple of moves. Otherwise, you would have to find the Gmail app on your desktop, open it, and then tap the “Compose” option to start typing.
Like this, there are several examples of functions that can be greatly streamlined with the use of this Xiaomi section. If you have any daily and recurring tasks on your mobile, check if there is a shortcut in the vault in order to access it faster.
