File compression is something that has been used for a long time, since with this system it is possible to reduce the size of what you want to send considerably - which on the one hand saves on data rates whenever we talk about terminals mobile phones and also increases the speed with which it is possible to send an email. Well, this can be done without many complications on devices with Android OS.
Contrary to what happens in Windows, there is no native option to work with the ZIP files, so in Android it is necessary to resort to an application created by third parties to be able to reduce and extract the content of the files that arrive compressed. We have chosen RAR for Android, a development that is completely free and offers great compatibility (but it is true that there are others, such as AndroZip).
Obviously, the first thing you have to do is get the application we are talking about, something that is possible to get in the store Play Store clicking on the image that we leave below that leads to the specific page to start the download in the usual way.
Use RAR for Android
Next we will explain in a simple way the steps to take to compress a file on an Android device and, also, to decompress it. You will see that it is something that has no problems and, in addition, there is something that helps a lot: the development is fully translated into Spanish, which allows you to always be very clear about where you are and, of course, what each of the existing buttons does.
To compress one or more files, the best thing is to locate the ones you want to include in the file in question and, now, select them clicking on the empty box on the right side. Once you're done, look for the icon on the top ribbon that has an icon with a "+".
A new screen opens in which you can set the type of compression to use (RAR, ZIP, etc.) and, in addition, it is possible to change the file name, set a password and delete the original files once the process is complete. By the way, the result is stored in the same folder where you started the process. Tap on Accept at the bottom (on the right) and wait for the process to complete on your Android terminal.
Unzip a file
In this case everything is as simple as in the previous process, since once the file in question is visible with RAR for Android open, you simply have to select it and click on the icon that it has an arrow pointing up.
Now the available options appear, ranging from indicating the folder in which the extracted files will be obtained, options such as overwriting duplicate files and even what to do if they are found damaged content. Once you have selected the options that you will use, you simply have to click on Accept (again in the lower right hand corner of the screen).
