Having the digital certificate on our Xiaomi phone is important if we want to carry out a procedure safely from anywhere. This electronic document in Spain is issued by the National Currency and Stamp Factory, it can be installed in the browser to access various electronic offices.
It is a digital document that has multiple uses, including having the electronic signature available, being able to make inquiries and send requests to public institutions. Install the digital certificate on a Xiaomi device (also on Redmi and POCO brand phones) is easy and can be done in a few steps.
The digital certificate includes the identification data, so you can use it instead of the well-known electronic DNI. Many pages usually request this certificate, so it is always convenient to have it if you want to get to do a procedure on the Internet, speeding up the processes a lot.
What is the digital certificate?

It is a means that guarantees the identity of a person on the Internet and is mandatory to carry out procedures with the Public Administration of the Community. The Self-Employed and Companies must have a digital certificate, the Tax Agency obliges each of them to submit documents electronically.
What is it for? An important advantage is to save time and money when carrying out administrative procedures using the Internet, and it can also be done anywhere and at any time. This certificate is essential, validating and operating in just under a minuteas it is easy to use.
Today we can use a computer, a tablet or even a phone to use the digital certificate, you need at least one connection to carry out the process. The digital certificate at the end of the accounts will validate us with our name and surname in that venue where we want to use it.
Request a digital certificate on your Xiaomi

This step will be the same and identical to the one you have previously done with another phone with the Android operating system, you can also order it from Windows or Mac OS. If you still do not have the certificate, the first thing to do is request it at the electronic office where you are going to use it.
The steps will be similar depending on which office you are going to apply for, although we are going to focus on the Real Casa de la Moneda website. To request the digital certificate, do the following on your Xiaomi device:
- Go to the Real Casa de la Moneda website from this link
- Once you have accessed the page, go to Natural person – Obtain software certificate – Request certificate and wait for the confirmation message to show you
- Once you have received the confirmation, you have to present yourself at a citizen attention office so that they give it as validated and accept the application
- After the step carried out and after having gone to the office, it will be sent a link to the email with which you can download the digital certificate, remember to save this well to use it in those sites that require it, for this you can see the sites where you can use it on the same page
Installing the digital certificate

The first thing is to have downloaded the digital certificate to your phone, it comes compressed, so you have to get to unzip the file. The certificate is downloaded with a .p12 extension, but sometimes it is downloaded in others, such as .pfx, both options are valid.
The steps to perform to install the certificate are as follows:
- Click on the downloaded certificate, usually appears in “Downloads” or “Download”
- Copy the certificate to your Xiaomi device, the extension will end with the ending .p12 or .pfx
- Run the digital certificate using the file explorer, but you can also do it in Settings – Security – Credential storage, using this path click on the option that says “Install from phone memory” and select the certificate
- Select WiFi or VPN and apps if you are using this connection and click on the certificate again to confirm
Installing the root certificate

One of the steps for everything to work is to install the root certificate, you can check that it is ready in the Android Security Settings path, then you have to look for it in “View security certificates”. Here it will show you all the ones installed so far, which are several.
The installation will vary depending on the layer you use, if in this case it is MIUI, the route will not vary too much, although it does in versions prior to the most modern one. Remember to have downloaded the certificate to your phone and always have this file at hand for use.
To install the root certificate, do the following:
- The first thing is to download the root certificate, use the Government page to do so, click on this link
- Click on “Advanced” and view the certificate you want to download, several files appear, choose the one that suits you best
- The certificate ends in .CER extension, this occupies relatively little, just a few Kilobytes, it does not reach a mega
- Android will open the same with the certificate installer, so you don't need to worry, if you see that it does not open go to Downloads on your phone and click on the file
- Click OK for the installer to start working and install it on the device
To check that the certificate is installed, do the following on your Xiaomi phone: Go to Settings – Security – View security certificates. Once inside, look for the one that you have installed on your phone, it usually appears among the first, check that it is the one that you have previously downloaded.
What can we do with the digital certificate?

Among other things, the digital certificate allows the filing and settlement of taxes, inquiries about traffic fines, consultation and registration in the municipal register, presentation of appeals and claims, and procedures for applying for subsidies.
