Back in October 2023, Android users looked haughtily at iPhone users because they already had Passkeys available on WhatsApp. And rightly so, because it took a few months for them to become a reality on the iPhone. Although the arrival of Passkeys to Apple's operating system took a few months, they are here. WhatsApp passkeys are available to all users, both Android and iPhone.
Configure passkeys in WhatsApp from your Android
Set the WhatsApp password from your Android.
WhatsApp implements passkeys to log in or enter the app on Android and iPhone directly and with Greater security through biometric data.
On Android, the requirements you will need are a device with Android 9 or later, a Google account linked to your phone, screen lock and password manager set up, and the latest version of the Google Play Store installed. On iPhone, you will only require iOS 16 or later versions.
To verify that it's you, you can use Touch ID, Face ID, or your iPhone device's passcode. If you have Android, you can use your fingerprint, face or screen lock.
Create your password
Now, to create your password, enter the WhatsApp app, whether you are on Android or iPhone, and then go to Settings. On Android, locate the Account option to access Passwords. Click on it so that it will then appear «Create access key«.
Then, click on Continue. To create your passkey you may need to use the screen lock.
In case you are reinstalling WhatsApp and you already have a password, the app will ask you if Do you want to continue using that same key? or if you want to change it.
