Smartphones have evolved enough to be able to replace computers with many of the daily tasks, and one of them is browsing the internet, for which there is a great variety of browsers, although we believe that the best is Chrome for its operation and speed, but it is not the only one, there are many that are very good and that can easily play the role of replacement for Chrome, there are some very interesting such as Opera, Firefox or the one that we are going to discuss today which is Vivaldi Browser.
A simple but elegant design
When we enter the application for the first time, we see the shortcut menu with a series of websites and shortcuts that are proprietary to the application, such as: News, which opens a sub-menu with a few news websites; Vivaldi Features, which will give us a list of options that this browser has; Vivaldi Comunity, where we see news about the progress of the application and Vivaldi Webmail, which as its name suggests, gives us access to the application's mail engine.
I think the application is very structured and the proportions of the elements on the screen are very well defined and nothing seems out of place, and as we see in the screenshots, the main menu has a background that remains fixed behind the elements. In my opinion, it is a very successful design.
Lots of options
The application has a very reasonable amount of very useful options that will help to get the most out of this complete browser.
As we see in this screenshot, we can capture the page that we have on the screen, which is extremely useful if we want to read something later or we cannot do it at that moment.
Here we see one of those that in my opinion is one of the best options that this application has, which is the option to search the page, an option that practically all browsers have, but it is always a pleasant surprise and if you don't have it , you miss her.
Basic but useful setup
Like all of them, this application has a section that allows you to configure certain sections to your liking, such as the default search engine, password management, payment methods and some more. Personally, the first thing I have done has been to change the search engine, which was by default in Bing, and I have changed it to Google, of course.
We also have the option to choose between two themes within the settings. Light and Dark, the light will leave the base color white and the accent color light blue, the dark will leave the background color dark gray and the accent color blue, perfect for lovers of dark mode.
Conclusion
I think that while this app is not on the level of Chrome, it certainly deserves a shot and can certainly be a replacement if you are tired of Google's option. But this version is only a beta, so we will have to see how it evolves in the next versions.
