BBM for Android is now available, download it now

  • BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for Android is now available on Google Play.
  • The application is only compatible with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and later versions.
  • Installation errors and graphical issues have been reported on some devices.
  • You must join a waiting list to access the BBM service.

BlackBerry Messenger

Just an hour ago we told you that BlackBerry Messenger, or BBM, for Android, it would be available in a matter of time, and that we would notify you when it was. Now, the application can be downloaded from the Google Play store. It is already giving errors when installing the application from Google Play for the computer.

The application can now be downloaded from any Android smartphone. However, it has some important limitations, such as that it is only compatible with terminals that have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later, so a relatively high percentage of users will not be able to install this application. That is a problem, since WhatsApp is compatible with all phones from Android 2.2 Froyo.

The first mistakes

And how could it be otherwise, BBM for Android is already encountering the first problems. In our case, we could not install the application on the smartphone from the app store, we had to resort to the installation directly from the terminal itself. On the other hand, there are some graphical flaws in the app when it has to load the new windows, that a black box appears in one of the corners. We suppose that it is something that happens only with some smartphones in particular, but it remains strange that it is not something that they have tested.

On waiting list

Finally, we must note that downloading the app does not allow us to access the BlackBerry Messenger service. To do this, we will first have to register on a waiting list, and when we receive the pass in the email, which could take hours, or even days, then we will be able to access the service. At the moment, we can only add ourselves to the waiting list. We knew that this list would exist, but not that the number of people who were going to be able to access the service today would be so few.
