When you delete a file on your Android phone through the browser, you are not really deleting them completely. We show you how you can delete files completely safely.

What really happens when you delete a file

A song. A picture. A Word document that no longer works. A pdf. It does not matter what kind of file you delete, since basically they are all the same. Are data, y are data with a specific address within a memory. Any kind of file weighs and occupies an area, almost like a physical space, on our mobile.

What happens then when we delete a file using our mobile browser? We don't really delete, we don't move that document. All we do is tell our mobile that that space is available and that, when you need it, you can use it. But in the meantime, that file is still alive. Therefore, it can be accessed. If we want delete files completely safely, we need to take more action. Luckily, there are applications that do exactly this.

How to delete files completely safely on your Android mobile

What we need, as explained by our colleagues from another blog, it is a method of safely deleting files. We have to certify that not only is our mobile told that it can write in an area, but that area is also completely demolished so that there is absolutely nothing left. This is necessary if we really want to never be able to access something, since we cannot know when our mobile will overwrite that data. As long as you don't, they can be accessed, and that carries "danger."

The solution comes from the hands of National Cryptographic Center. This organization offers an application for Android devices that is responsible for overwriting the space freed up when deleting a file. In this way, you make sure to completely remove it safely. The application, called CCNDroid Wiper, it is available on their website. You can also use it to overwrite all the free space you have available at the moment, either on your micro SD card or on the internal storage. So you don't even have to wait to start deleting other files.

You can discover more about it and download the apk from the following links. Remember that you must activate unknown origins to be able to install it on your mobile:
