floating notifications on WhatsApp

The floating bubble type notifications that Facebook has made so fashionable with its Messenger application can be used in almost all applications if we have a rooted Android phone. Today we will show you how to enjoy them through an application called Seebye Chat Heads, which will organize all our bubble conversations.

With Facebook Messenger the floating notification was introduced for the first time, those bubbles in the form of a notification in a corner of the screen with the image of our contact. By clicking on it, we can read and reply to messages without stopping what we were doing or changing applications, which allows us to make more efficient use of multitasking. If you like how these types of notifications work, you can also enjoy them in other applications such as WhatsApp.

To achieve this we can download an application called Seebye Chat Heads, which is available in the Google Play Store. How could it be otherwise, it is a module of Xposed Framework, the quintessential application for those who love customization on Android - and the one we gave you all the details a few weeks ago–, and to use it we will have to have root access on the device.

Thanks to Seebye Chat Heads, we will be able to use floating notifications with other instant messaging applications such as WhatsApp, so that they appear on the screen by means of a circle and the contact's image. Once we open the bubble, we will have access to three options: see the complete conversation (in case there are several messages, since only one appears in the notification), mark the conversation as read and also reply.

As with Facebook Messenger, these notifications can be moved anywhere on the screen so as not to obstruct our view of it. If we want to delete a notification, all we have to do is press and hold it for a second and drag it to the bottom of the screen, right where an X appears.

As you can see, Seebye Chat Heads is a very interesting application, especially for squeeze out of multitasking if we are active WhatsApp users.

What are chat bubbles and why they improve multitasking?

The floating bubbles are persistent notifications that are superimposed on other apps and allow read and reply without switching screens. In WhatsApp, this extra layer speeds up interaction with chats without losing focus on what you were doing, ideal for work with several tasks at once.

Seebye Chat Heads: Requirements, Installation, and Use

To activate these bubbles in WhatsApp with Seebye Chat Heads you need root y Xposed Framework. Install the module from the store, activate it in Xposed and reboot the device. When messages arrive, you will see the bubble with the contact's photo; by touching it you can open the entire thread, Mark as read o respond quickly without opening the app in full screen.

The bubble moves freely around the screen and you can discard it by dragging it towards the lower X. This behavior is identical to that of Messenger, with the advantage of centralizing conversations of different compatible apps.

Non-root alternatives: Native Bubbles and Floating Window

If you don't want root, Android offers useful options. In recent versions there are the following: Native bubbles and split screen or floating window. If needed, enable the "Force activities to be resized" developer option to allow more apps to support floating windows.

There are several ways to use it: from the Task Manager Open the options of each app to move it to a floating window; or use the quick access sidebar from your manufacturer to launch it in a box on top of other apps. You'll be able to move and resize the window keeping the corners, and even anchor accesses to the side to open it later with a gesture.

Activate or deactivate floating notifications according to your mobile

Android stock: Long press the notification and adjust its relevance. In Priority or Default mode bubbles and warnings are displayed; in Silence there will be no bubble or sound.

On Xiaomi (MIUI)

Go to Settings > Notifications and tap on "Floating". There you can allow or block by app floating notifications from WhatsApp and other applications.

On Huawei (EMUI)

Go to Settings > Notifications > Floating notifications and activate or deactivate per application. This menu centralizes the permission to display overlapping windows.

On Samsung, Realme, OPPO and similar

In One UI, also go to Settings > Notifications > Advanced Settings > Manage notification categories by app and, within WhatsApp, deactivate the option Show as popup in the categories you don't need.

If you notice that pulling down the curtain accidentally opens a floating window, change the One UI notification format from "Brief" to "Short" "Detailed"; many users report that this is the case avoid pop-up openings unwanted. And within WhatsApp, deactivate the high priority notifications if you are looking for a less intrusive warning.
