Given the state of the market, it was almost certain that Samsung would decide to launch a 7-inch tablet compatible with the use of the S Pen, and logic has proven true again, as it happened with the Galaxy Note 2. Everything points to the fact that a document from the WiFi certification entity has been leaked that Galaxy Note 7 (GT-N5100) it will be a reality and, therefore, it will be necessary to add one more tablet to compete in the market against Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD and, of course, iPad Mini.
The truth is that this arrival was something that was expected, since both Note 10.1 and Note 2 have obtained a fairly good reception in the market (especially the second), so the Korean company did not want to miss the opportunity to “ attack ”the seven-inch segment now that many users are looking at it due to its excellent portability and reduced costs… Here Samsung will have to make an effort.
Without much data regarding its specifications
Specific data is not well known, but Android Authority has indicated some that they believe could have this new tablet. The first thing is that, according to them, the screen will be compatible with HD and, therefore, they indicate that the resolution of the panel will be 1.280 x 800. This makes all the sense in the world, since in this way it would continue with the one offered with the new models of the Note range that are on the market and, therefore, the settings for the use of the S Pen would be less.
There is a rather interesting question regarding, again, the screen. This is knowing exactly the dimensions of the screen. Two are the options that are handled: 7 or 7,7 inches, which in both cases are adequate to offer the greatest possible mobility. Obviously we will have to wait and always keep in mind that this is only speculation and no confirmation has been received from Samsung.
Regarding the rest of the components, very little is known, but it is not unreasonable to think that the new Galaxy Note 7 will have a SoC quad-core, probably from the Exynos range (it would be a real bomb if it were one with ARM Cortex-A15 architecture), and, in addition, 2 GB of RAM, since the latest devices with S Pen have it... It all depends on the price that Samsung wants to put on this new tablet.
Screen, S Pen and format
The HD hypothesis with 1.280 x 800 fits in with the tradition of compact Note tablets: good sharpness for reading, drawing and annotating with the S Pen without penalizing battery life. In the Note family, the stylus integrates with features like shortcuts, smart cropping, translation, and on-screen writing, so it's reasonable to expect high pressure sensitivity and reduced latency. Regarding size, the GT-N5100 code has always been associated with a very manageable format; if it were to eventually grow by a few tenths, the use of the front so as not to lose portability.
Performance and memory
The Quad Core Exynos and 2GB of RAM, the logical goal would be solid performance for light multitasking, productivity apps, and multimedia consumption. Experience with the Note range shows that Samsung tends to combine fast storage with microSD slot, key in work and leisure tablets. The in-house software oriented towards productivity (floating windows, Vista multi-window and S Pen shortcuts) would help squeeze the hardware without sacrificing fluency.
Connectivity and expected extras
In terms of connectivity, it would be desirable to have WiFi models and mobile data, in addition to Bluetooth 4.x, NFC and dual-band ac WiFi. The Note ecosystem on mobile phones has incorporated improvements such as USB‑C, dust and splash resistance profile and biometric systems (fingerprint and even iris recognition), so some of these advantages could be transferred to a Note tablet to reinforce its versatility in office, study or travel environments.
Clarification on the name “Note 7”
It is advisable not to confuse this tablet with the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, a model from the same saga that stood out for its curved screen, compatibility with HDR10, high-resolution audio and the arrival of iris scannerThat phone was recalled due to battery problems and later reappeared as a Fan Edition with a lower capacity battery and a reinforced verification process. This mention serves to contextualize the technology available in the Note line and help understand what extras a tablet with the Note 7 surname could inherit without both products being identical or sharing a common purpose.
If Samsung completes this project, the balance between a well-calibrated HD panel, advanced S Pen, good performance and complete connectivity could make the Galaxy Note 7 (GT‑N5100) a solid candidate for those looking for productivity and entertainment in a compact form factor, as long as the price aligns with the promise of portability and value.
