If you have a Nexus 9 or a Nexus 7, in its 2013 version, you will probably be interested to know that both tablets will receive the update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It was not at all clear if this would be the case, for different reasons in each case, but Google has confirmed this through information that has been sent to application programmers.
Updates
Google is not doing great with this update as far as Lollipop is concerned. The new version has come with many new software features both in terms of functionality and appearance, and that is costing the company, which is unable to optimize the software even on its devices. The Nexus 9 is one of Google's flagship devices at the moment, along with the Nexus 6, and it is curious that it has not yet received an update to Android 5.1, as it is a very recent tablet. However, the company has confirmed that it will receive Android 5.1.1 by publishing a very clear reference to this new version for the Nexus 9. This leads us to think that some error has made Android 5.1 not reach the Nexus 9, although it will Android 5.1.1.
The Nexus 7 (2013) is still alive
Google announced that the updates for its Nexus would arrive on those devices that will have been on the market less than 24 months, which is two years. The Nexus 7 (2013) was launched two years ago, as that is obvious, and therefore the users of said tablet were already beginning to worry about whether they would soon stop receiving updates. It is likely to pass, but, at least for now, it seems that it will continue to receive updates. Google was not only referring to the Nexus 9 in regards to the update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but it was also referring to the Nexus 7 (2013), so it seems that the tablet will receive one more update at least. Even so, we cannot rule out that it continues to receive updates, as it would not be strange for the company to continue launching its new versions of software for this tablet. What we will not see, probably, is the jump to a future big update.
