How to get back the money paid for an app up to 48 hours later

  • Google Play allows app refunds up to 48 hours after purchase.
  • The refund only applies to apps, not digital content such as music or movies.
  • The refund process is initiated from your Google Play account on a computer.
  • A reason must be provided when requesting a refund using the appropriate form.

Refunding

Google Play has one thing that the App Store does not have, and that we all deeply appreciate. It is about the possibility of «returning» an application, or of recovering the money paid for an app. Mountain Viewers say we can do it 15 minutes after we buy it. However, in reality, it is possible to do it up to 48 hours later if we do it in the proper way. Let's see how.

The first thing we should do is ask ourselves if this is legally and technically feasible. To do this, we go to the contract that developers sign with Google when uploading an Android application to the app store. In section 3.4 it is indicated that the reimbursement time is 48 hours. The American company keeps its back. Although they only offer 15 minutes through the Refund button found on Google Play itself, the truth is that if we contact them through secondary channels we can get our money back within two days. The contract signed with developers makes it clear to us that there is a basis for this.

Refunding

Of course, an important differentiation is also made. Only the money of applications will be returned, since they cannot be tested to see if they are what we are looking for for that money. The same does not happen with tones, music, images, movies, etc. in which one can know exactly what it is before buying it.

1.- We go to the Google Play account page on a computer. To do this, we must have logged into any of the company's services, such as Gmail, or Google+. Once logged in, we enter the account page of the app store, for which we leave you the link.

2.- In the right column, titled as Options, click on "Report a bug". If you do not see these options, you are not in the right place. To see this, you would have to be viewing a list of all recently downloaded applications.

3.- Now we are in front of a window where we are shown the logo of the application, its name, and a drop-down menu appears just below. We open it and select "I want to request a refund". There, the conditions under which it will be returned to us are explained to us. Either way, we scroll to the bottom and fill in the box in which we can write the reasons why we think we should receive a refund.

4.- Click on «Send report», and we wait seated. The most common thing, if the application is not very expensive, and we have not followed this process with each purchased application, it is that we get the money back for it. In any case, we must bear in mind that they may not do so. If we receive an email confirming that they are reimbursing us, then it is confirmed that they will.
