An unstable version in which more things work

Yesterday we told you that you could install a Android Pie Preview with Samsung Experience 10 on the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. However, that tutorial applied exclusively to the Plus version, so it was not compatible with other devices - such as the Galaxy Note 9 - or with other brands. Even so, this preview version is being worked very quickly and its compatibility is expanding, so a new device joins the party.

If you have a Samsung Galaxy S9 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, you can follow this tutorial to install Android Pie with Samsung Experience 10 in a preview and unstable version. However, this time you will find fewer bugs than doing the same on the Galaxy S9 Plus, since only one bug remains: the dark theme does not work. The risks of doing this, yes, remain. If you are not willing to mess with your mobile or risk getting a very expensive brick, do not follow this tutorial. If you understand the risks and are still interested in it, just keep reading.

How to install Android Pie on the Galaxy S9 with a previous version of Samsung Experience 10

Once everything is clear, these are the followed what you should follow:

  1. Download Odin 3.13.1 on your computer. Also the file update.zip and these odin files.
  2. If you have a micro SD card, pass the file update.zip to external memory. If not, skip this step.
  3. Connect the mobile to your PC. Open the Odin files. There will be a zip called G960USQS3ARG8_TMB.zip with six files. In Odin there will be five categories, but four will be used in this tutorial.
  4. Put your mobile on Odin mode. To do this, turn it off and then using the combination of the Power + Volume Down + Bixby buttons.
  5. Open Odin on your PC and place the files in the respective categories, as it appears in the following image.

  7. After flashing the new firmware, your mobile will will restart.
  8. When the process is done, wait five minutes. Turn off your mobile and restart in mode recovery, holding down Power + Volume Up + Bixby.
  9. In the recovery menu use the volume and power buttons to select "Apply update from SD card". Do this only if you have a micro SD card. If you don't have it, skip to step 11.
  10. Use the volume buttons again to select the file update.zip and select it with the Power button. The update will start. Skip to step 12.
  11. If you don't have a micro SD card, select the option "Apply update from adb". Open a command window on your PC and use the following: adb sideload . Hit Enter.
  12. When the update is done, do a factory reset to avoid further stability problems.
