On many occasions, having a large number of notifications, we choose to discard them all quickly with the button enabled for it in the corresponding bar. However, if it is an error, it is possible to correct it quickly thanks to the widgets that it brings with it Android and one of its best features: notification history.
Having a large number of applications installed on our Android device is really good, especially if we use them. However, we can often see how in just a few hours we can see almost a dozen new ones appear. notifications different (updates, messages, installations...) and, of course, such is the stress that we opt for discard them all of them. What if we want to check again if any of them interested us? What if we have discarded a important email without realizing it?
Don't worry, Google also thinks about these possibilities and included a very interesting option in the system: the notification history. In older devices there was already a registration via widget (popular in versions like KitKat or Lollipop), and in more recent versions it is integrated as native setting to check notifications you no longer see in the bar. However, not all manufacturers display them in the same way or with the same name.
Now, what steps do we need to follow to access our most recent notifications, including those we recently dismissed? The truth is, it couldn't be more... simple:
- In an empty space of our home screen, we will press for several seconds until a floating menu appears in which the option will appear widgets.
- We will look for a widget called "Access to Settings" Or simply "Settings«. It has a 1×1 size and has a gear as its icon, as is usual on Android.
- We will select the widget and add it to the place we want on the home screen. When releasing it, a list will appear with the possible options that we can choose.
- We will search for "Notification history»Or«Notifications» in the list and select it, the icon will then appear on our phone.
- If we press the shortcut, all dismissed notifications will appear so that we can read them.
As you can see, it is really easy to access quickly to our notifications. If you're interested, you can find more tutorials at our dedicated section.
Activate notification history from Settings

On current versions of Android you can enable native logging by going to Configuration and accessing the section Notifications. Inside, locate Notification history and activate the option Use notification history. From that moment on you will see a list with all recent alerts, including those you have accidentally deleted.
If your phone has a customization layer, the name may vary: some manufacturers call it Notice history or similar. On certain models the history also shows a category of "Recently Discarded" to distinguish what you deleted from the panel. Keep in mind that the history usually covers a limited period (usually the last 24 hours), so the oldest notices are replaced.
On some devices this feature is unavailable or hidden. For example, certain versions of layers such as HyperOS In certain models, they may lack direct adjustment, although you can always resort to alternative methods that we explain below.
Two shortcuts from the notification panel

Once activated, there is two very practical shortcuts to enter history:
- If you have visible warnings, click on the button History that appears under the last notification on the panel.
- If the panel is empty, tap on the blank area (where it says no notifications) and you will access the history with all notices.
Previous versions: Use hidden log via widget

If your mobile is an older version in which the native setting does not appear, the Settings Access widget allows you to open the Notification log from the system to check for already dismissed alerts. This is the traditional method and is still very useful in older models.
Manufacturer tricks and alternatives with applications

On Samsung mobiles you can activate Notification Reminders from Settings > Notifications > Advanced Settings. The phone will send periodic notifications pending notifications in the apps you choose, so you don't miss a thing.
If your device doesn't offer native history, use specialized apps. Some notable ones are Notification History (Yotta Studio), Notification History Log, Recent notification, Newsave o unnotification. These tools usually allow group by app, search by text, create backup, Apply black lists or even retrieve the notification right after deleting it. You must grant access to notifications and remember that they do not record previous notices to its installation.
Important notes and limits of the function
History is not the same as opening the message in the app: many users use it to read content without enabling read receipts. If someone deletes a message on WhatsApp or an interaction on social media, the text already displayed The notification is usually kept in the log. However, the extent depends on each application and the length of time the system retains it.
On iPhone, the system does not offer a recoverable history after deleting alerts. It is only possible to consult the Notification Center if the alerts are still there. And if you manage Google Workspace, the app Google Admin allows you to review and manage administration notifications from the mobile, although this is a different use case than the system history.
With these options, whether through the native setting, the classic widget or dedicated apps, you can avoid losing important information and recover dismissed notifications in seconds. Explore the method that best suits your phone and needs.
