At last new data is being known about the optimized version of Microsoft Office for mobile operating systems devices. We all know very well that it is the most widely used office suite in the world, which allows us work with Word files, PowerPoint and Excel, no matter how much free alternatives appear. A cloud version accessible from mobile devices has long been available. However, what we expect is the native version for Android, which would arrive in May 2013, and that we could use through an Office 365 subscription.
A few weeks ago, it was Microsoft itself, through its division in the Czech Republic, that said that the office suite for iOS and Android would arrive during the first quarter of 2012. However, from high places they were quick to say that, for the moment, the only thing confirmed is that you could use the cloud services that they already offer, but nothing more. Which made us think that someone missed that information.
Today, new rumors point in the same direction as that statement, although not fully. On the one hand, it seems that, indeed, Microsoft Office for iOS will arrive during the first quarter of 2013. However, the version for Android would not arrive until May of next year, so we would have to wait a little longer.
The most curious thing is that, from the screenshot that we show you just above, it seems that it will be necessary to have a subscription to Office 365, the online service. Right now, the cheapest subscription price per user would stay at 7,25 euros per month. Although, yes, we would have to wait for the application to be launched to confirm all this data, since it is currently a service oriented more to companies, and Microsoft would have to give it a good face lift, which would, perhaps, change also the prices of the service.
