Android 10 warns you if the USB C of your mobile is dirty or overheats

  • Android 10 introduces a smart alert system for the USB Type-C port.
  • Detects dirt and automatically disables the port for device safety.
  • Port overheating alert recommends disconnecting accessories.
  • Alerts are triggered at critical temperatures of 60ºC and 65ºC.

Android 10 It has already been officially released and, as always, the Mountain View company has unveiled the list of main novelties. But there are other series of changes, improvements and new functions 'underhood', that Google has not commented and that little by little we are discovering. One of them is the new system of smart alerts related to the USB Type-C port of the devices. If it gets dirty, for example, the mobile itself will warn you.

Google has disclosed that Android 10 comes with a new system-wide dark mode, native foldable smartphone support, or improved gesture control. These are some of the novelties included in its official list. But as we were advancing, there are many other new functions and features that, although they have not been officially mentioned, have been included as well. Little by little we are discovering them, and it will take us to know some others, but we have already been able to know that now Android 10 is able to detect dirt at the USB C port by itself. Thus, an alert is launched to the user to inform him.

If the USB port of your mobile is dirty, Android 10 detects it and warns you

With this new security system, our mobile device with Android 10 not only warns us that there is dirt in the port, but also it deactivates automatically. Obviously, it can be activated manually if there has been a 'false positive', but the system is also programmed to activate itself when we have cleaned it. And this, although it is a novelty of Android 10, is something that Samsung It had already been including One UI along with its customization layer, and even in TouchWiz on older devices.

Apple had also included it in the iPhone. But going back to Android 10, in addition to dirt they are also detected excessive temperatures. If there is overheating in this component, the system launches an alert to recommend to the user that disconnect the charging cable or any accessory that is connected, until the port returns to the ideal temperature for its operation.

In this sense, they have analyzed the Android 10 code to see that the alert jumps to 60 ° C in the first instance considering that there has been a critical situation about the component. And a second alert, to 65 ° C considering that a 'state of emergency' is taking place. Interesting improvements that, curiously, the Mountain View company has not officially commented on anything.
