Play StarCraft Brood War on your Android with Winulator (video)

  • Winulator emulates PC games on Android, enhancing the experience of games like Caesar III and StarCraft: Brood War.
  • Machine code conversion enables excellent compatibility and performance on ARM devices.
  • The WCH tool makes it easy to adapt Windows executable files to a readable format.
  • Winulator is still in beta phase, with a promising future if its evolution and development continues.

For some time the project Winner It is active and, little by little, it offers news. Already at the time it was published that it was possible to use the Caesar III game with a more than remarkable efficiency (we tell about it in this link) and, now, it has been known that a much more striking title is also possible to use it: StarCraft: Brood War.

There have been projects for a long time to emulate this game on the Android operating system and, to date, the results have been really bad ... you could almost say that horrible: bad executions, erratic handling, degraded graphics. A disaster. Well, thanks to Winulator this is no longer the case and, although development continues in beta and waiting to receive more games, as you can see in the video that we leave below the outlook couldn't be more optimistic Regarding this emulator of titles for PC environment of a few years ago:

This is how Winulator works

The truth is that the way this project works is very different from the usual one, since basically what is done is converting the machine code (base) of the game so that the executable files and libraries (DLL) become lines of command readable for ARM format. Obviously, the process is long since it requires complicated internal processes, but once the result is achieved it is excellent and, in addition, it does not cause compatibility problems. The tool used for all this is WCH (Windows Converter Helper).

The results obtained are fully compatible with Winulator and are saved in a separate file and, therefore, what we have is a collection of images with the compatible games ... that the developers obviously have and, from what it seems, there lies the income they want to have (apart from charging for the application itself, which can be obtained already in its beta version in this link from Google Play).

For now getting StarCraft Brood War is complicated, since the developers have not released it in bulk, but what yes it is possible to get it is Caesar III (you can access here to know how to access). The truth is that from what you see, Winulator looks great and if it continues to evolve, it will very possibly become a success.
