Six Xperia from 2011, such as the Neo and the Arc, certify ICS version

  • Sony announced the arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich for Xperia devices from 2011, but many have not yet been updated.
  • Six Xperia models are close to receiving Android 4.0.4 with the 4.1.B.0.431 certification.
  • Certification does not guarantee updates, as previous versions were also certified without reaching the public.
  • Devices already using ICS will receive improvements, while others may eventually abandon Gingerbread.

Fast forward in time, months and months have passed since Sony announced and promised that Ice Cream Sandwich would come to the Xperia family devices released in 2011. However, we left the equator of 2012 a few weeks ago, and there are still many models that have not updated. Well, it seems that six Xperia terminals launched in 2011 could be close to receiving the update. And it is that a new version 4.1.B.0.431 of Android 4.0.4 has received certification for the Xperia Active, Mini Pro, Neo, Neo V, Arc and Pro.

With these, a wide range of devices would be covered with the available update. Although yes, it must be taken into account that the fact that they have received certification does not imply that they will receive this update, since in the past other versions were certified that, as we all know, have not arrived, forcing the owners of these mobiles to follow with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

However, it is possible that if those versions did not reach the public it was because they still had bugs. A new version supposes, at least, the solution to some of these problems and bugs, which means that now they may be ready to reach the public. This implies that in a matter of a few weeks or a month we should have news about these official updates to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich for Xperia Active, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Neo, Xperia Neo V, Xperia Arc and Xperia Pro. Obviously, the devices on this list that already work with ICS will only receive a version with fewer bugs, but those that do not have it, may finally be able to leave Gingerbread behind.

On the other hand, it should be noted that the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Mini and Xperia Ray, have not received the corresponding certification. Although everything indicates that the reason is simply a delay in the certificate process itself carried out by PTCRB.
