It is one of the essential applications that you have to have on your mobile. The Google translator, which in the desktop version helps us to read pages in other languages, on the mobile phone allows us to communicate when we are in front of someone who does not speak our language. The new version has changed its design to the Ice Cream Sandwich style. But more important than aesthetics is the inclusion of new languages and handwriting.
The first thing that catches the attention of version 2.4 of Google Translate when you open it is the formal renewal. You now have a more careful design and in the line of Holo, the basic theme of Ice Cream Sandwich. In that it has gained in elegance with respect to the previous version. One of the improvements to its appearance is that you can now display translations in full screen mode so that other users can read them more easily.
But as we have said, the best thing about the new Translator is not its physique. Now it translates words and phrases into a total of 64 languages. They have added new languages to the voice translator, which can now read up to 17 languages. And for about 40, you can hear translations out loud. This is very useful for the conversation function that it brings. The mobile thus becomes an interpreter like those that we see that are always in the midst of European politicians. For that you have to go to conversation mode.
They have also improved the options to save the best translations for offline access or access to the full history of translations. They already had it in the previous version, but it seems that have fine-tuned the translation of languages that do not use the Latin alphabet (eg Chinese, Japanese, etc.) in Latin characters so that they can be read phonetically (eg pinyin, romaji). It is a curiosity, but they have had the detail of including the translation into Esperanto, that language that was born at the beginning of the last century with the dream of becoming the language used by all humans.
But without a doubt, what I'm liking the most about the new version is how well it detects handwriting. My handwriting is horrible and more with a finger and on a mobile screen and, nevertheless, Google Translate captures it immediately and with hardly any errors.
