The Huawei Watch may not hit the market until September

  • Huawei Watch is presented as a competitor to the Apple Watch, but its launch has been delayed until the end of 2015.
  • Manufacturing problems are affecting several companies, including Motorola and Apple, which have also delayed their smartwatches.
  • Huawei's main problem lies in the limited customization of Android Wear, Google's operating system.
  • The delay could make the Huawei Watch's technology feel outdated by the time it's launched.

Announced months ago, the Huawei Watch It seemed to be the Android Wear smartwatch that could compete with the Apple Watch. But the truth is that if the new information is true, we will still have to wait for the new smartwatch to arrive on the market. Specifically, it would not land before September, for what would remain by the end of the year.

Smart watches do not arrive

It seems that almost all companies are facing the same problem with smartwatches. Motorola announced its Moto 360 a few months after launching it, and that hurt the commercial success of the smartwatch, as we already explained. Not long ago we talked about how Apple had made the same mistake announced its Apple Watch months before launching it. But it is that they have not even been able to manufacture enough units as expected, which has limited the sale in the Apple Store themselves. And it seems that now Huawei is joining that group of companies that are having trouble making smartwatches. Coincidentally, these three companies can claim that their watch has a better design than the competition, and perhaps that is what has caused the problems when it comes to making it. However, it seems that it is not the problem of the Huawei Watch, which has more to do with Android Wear.

Android Wear compatibility

Apparently, the problem that they are found in Huawei has to do with compatibility with Android Wear. And it is that the operating system for Google smart watches does not offer as many customization options as it happens with Android for smartphones and tablets. That is putting Huawei in serious trouble, which is trying to change Google's services that cannot be modified for its own services, something they did not have. This is so because Huawei's home market is China, where smartphone customizations trump Google's software. Due to this, it is believed that the Huawei Watch will not reach the market before September or October, which would leave us with a final sale date for the end of 2015. The problem is that when you announce something months before launching it, the technology with the one that counts goes from being novel when it is announced, to old-fashioned when it is launched. Everything will depend on whether or not rivals who improve it arrive or not, as it could be the new Motorola Moto 360.
