  • Google has discontinued the Nexus 5, which will be available while supplies last.

  • The smartphone remains out of stock on Google Play, although a restock is expected soon.

The Nexus 5 seemed to be the budget smartphone that Google would keep on sale after the launch of the Nexus 6, a more modern smartphone with a significantly higher price tag. However, nothing could be further from the truth. The company has already stopped manufacturing the smartphone, so it will only be available until stocks run out, which should be in March of next year, 2015.

The Nexus 5 is no longer the same smartphone it was last year. A year ago, it was a flagship phone that cost half as much. A year later, it has been surpassed by newer smartphones that have been released, and it still has the same price. Even so, it was a great phone at a very fair price. But then Google came along and made some changes to the official Google Play Stores worldwide. Specifically, in Spain, the black and red Nexus 5 disappeared, both the 16GB and 32GB versions. Currently, only the white version appears, in 16GB and 32GB. But it's still unavailable. Shortly after, an official Google spokesperson confirmed that the Nexus 5 would no longer be manufactured, and that it would therefore be available for purchase until stocks ran out.

Nexus 5 White

Although no one can know when all the stock of the Nexus 5 will be exhausted in a precise way, the truth is that the company does count on at least having units until the month of March 2015. At least, that is what they have said some Google employees, although we could never talk about this officially, because in reality not even they themselves know when the units of the smartphone are going to run out.

The truth is that right now the Nexus 5 only appears in white on Google Play and is still sold out, although it is assumed that "soon" there should be more units, which means that we cannot consider that the smartphone will no longer be up to date. sale, but simply that more units will be restocked soon. What is clear is that if you want to buy a Nexus 5 you will still have some time, but the best thing is to hurry, because when the second quarter of 2015 arrives you will no longer be able to buy any Nexus 5.
