There you have Xiaomi, a Chinese company whose main activity is centered in China, and it seems unlikely that its smartphones will be officially distributed in the United States and Europe for the time being. Or so it seemed, because on the very day that a presentation for February 12th in San Francisco was announced, the Xiaomi Mi5 reappeared in a new photograph.
New Photographs
The two photographs that accompany this post are of a new Xiaomi smartphone, and although we do not know with certainty which one it may be, because it is not even associated with any specific smartphone, it is difficult to think that it could be other than the Xiaomi Mi5. In principle, it is remarkably similar to what we have seen before in photographs of the smartphone, in which the screen that reaches horizontally from extreme to extreme stands out especially, which leads us to think that there are almost no side bezels.
The two vertical bezels, top and bottom, are indeed somewhat different from those in the Xiaomi Mi5 photos we've already seen . But considering that those photos could have been prototypes, it's easy to conclude that this could be the final design of the smartphone—much more standard than that one, wider, and with a larger screen. What seems quite clear is that the photos aren't fake; the quality is low, but the image looks real, and so does the smartphone. A prototype? It could be, but it resembles what we've seen before, and, interestingly, Xiaomi is preparing an event for February 12th.
San Francisco
And it is an event that will be held in nothing more and nothing less than in the city of San Francisco. It is a remarkable fact because Hugo Barra said this year that they were not going to reach Europe or the United States for a few years, so why hold an event in one of the most important cities in the country, in one of the centers largest technology companies in the world?

To say that the Xiaomi Mi5 could be presented on February 12 is saying a lot, but the truth is that it would be fantastic if the company made an announcement that had to do with it, or perhaps with the arrival, even if it is in a long time, to Europe or the United States. Currently, Xiaomi is the only company that seems capable of rivaling Apple and Samsung in the smartphone market, although we will still have to wait a while to see if the potential of this company becomes a reality.
