The iPhone 6s Plus is for me one of the best mobiles on the market. Or it may even be the best, the most balanced mobile of all. It has a high-quality camera, with a high-quality screen, even though it is not Quad HD. Its performance is of a high level. Its design is good. But despite this, I don't like it, why?
Apple's stubbornness
One of the great problems of Apple is that they are obsessed with issues that lead them to launch mobile phones with deficiencies. In this case, for me the error is in the design of the iPhone 6s Plus. One of the reasons that leads me not to buy it is that even with a 5,5-inch screen, the truth is that its size is similar to that of mobiles that have 5,7-inch screens. Why is this happening? Because Apple has not optimized the space as well in the iPhone 6s Plus as other manufacturers have achieved with their mobile. Isn't it possible for Apple to optimize space on the iPhone 6s Plus? Yes it is possible, but they do not want it, because they want it to have the same design as the iPhone 6 Plus. It is a question of the brand, that the style remains the same on the smartphone. That's great so that ten years from now, when we see an infographic about Apple smartphones, we will see that the modifications between versions were scarce. However, that is very negative for users, because in the end one of the reasons that leads me not to buy an iPhone 6s Plus is that with its 5,5-inch screen, it is still larger than some smartphones with a screen. 5,7 inch.
iOS is still very closed
Of course, and as it should be noted in this blog, one of the problems with the iPhone 6s Plus is that it has iOS as its operating system. It is an operating system that is designed to be completely intuitive, and indeed it is. For those users who have never owned a smartphone, the iPhone is probably the best, and it will be the smartphone that they will be able to use the best. But we have always said it, users who want a mobile with more possibilities, will have to buy an Android. It offers more customization possibilities: from the different launchers that we can install, to the widgets it has, and the possibility of changing the icons to give the mobile or the interface the appearance we want. But it is also a question of the possibilities that Apple and Google give to third parties for some apps to interact with others, and to be able to get from one function of one app to another. In Android there are many more possibilities than in the iPhone, and that is a problem for the Apple mobile.
Smart watches
I don't like the current landscape of smart watches. No manufacturer knows which operating system to install. But there is a problem that I like even less, and that is that if I buy an iPhone 6s Plus and I want a smartwatch, I will have to spend a lot of money on an Apple Watch. Yes, Android Wear is already compatible with iOS, the Samsung Gear S2 as well, but not all of its functions are used to the fullest extent than if you have an Android mobile. Again, we return to that closed operating system from Apple, which limits the future. And I do not like that when I buy a mobile of a lot of money, it is actually limiting the possibilities that the mobile will have in the future. I do not like the current panorama of smart watches, as I say, but if it is going to improve, it will not affect me at all if I have an iPhone 6s Plus.
It has NFC, but I can't pay with it
And we return again to a closed operating system. Apple finally integrated NFC into its iPhone 6. Yes, perfect, all users with an iPhone 6, or with an iPhone 6s have NFC on their smartphones, a very useful technology for making mobile payments. But in Europe they cannot use it, not because there are no longer apps to use it, or platforms in Spain that are active, such as CaixaBank Pay, for example, but rather because of the fact that Apple does not allow apps to use NFC to perform payments as long as it is not through its Apple Pay payment platform. That is, they want to make money with their payment platform. Android Pay and Samsung Pay also want to make money. In fact, in the latest agreement between Samsung Pay and CaixaBank, Samsung probably earns some money for each transaction made by CaixaBank customers, but even so, the latter have their own mobile app that uses NFC. Somehow, with Android, there is equal opportunity for everyone, and then each one, depending on whether they have a better or worse platform, is more or less successful. But in Apple no, you have to go through Apple Pay yes or yes, and that is why it is still not possible to pay with your iPhone in Spain, when it is possible to pay with your Android in Spain.
So, yes, the iPhone is a good phone, and I like the iPhone 6s Plus. Sounds like a good smartphone to me. And on several occasions I have thought about buying it. Years ago, I didn't buy it because I didn't have enough money to buy it. Now, the big problem is that every time I go to buy it, I find things that I do not like on my mobile. In a few years, the world of Android smartphones has improved a lot. And that is why, the iPhone, being a great smartphone, or perhaps the best if we consider the whole, I do not like.
